The Hawaii Tropics batter their former teammate Kinzo Iwamoto for five runs in the 2nd inning and cruise to a series opening win at home. The Trops scored four of the five runs on a two-run homer (4) by Mitch Wareham and another two-run blast (4) by Vincente Mendez. Vicente ‘Yogi’ Martinez added his 11th homer of the season in the 5th.
Ruben bin Majid al Din was effective in his start for Hawaii allowing a couple runs on five hits and a walk. He pitched four innings and struck out three batters in a no decision. Jose Prdonez pitched 1.2 scoreless innings for his 4th win and Bob Westbrooks threw 1.1 scoreless to earn his 3rd save.

The Tropics scored two runs in the bottom of the 9th on a Vincente Mendez single to send the game to extras. The game remained a stalemate until the Mounties rallied for two runs in the top of the 11th then set down the Tropics offense 1-2-3 in the bottom half of the inning to even the series 1-1.
Bob Westbrooks faltered in the 11th to take the loss and falls to 1-1. Slobodan Omeragic is overmatched in the Pacific as he gave up four runs in three innings of work in a no decision.
Mendez was 2 for 6 with a solo homer (5) three RBI and scored a run. Eric Owens was 2 for 5 with a solo blast (2) in the 4th. Jorge Dodd had an up and down game with his 6th homer in the 7th inning, scored two runs, walked and struck out two times.

Vancouver’s oft injured Ace Dirk Bessi held the Hawaii offense to three runs over seven innings and his teammates hammered Hawaii pitching for 10 runs to earn the series win.
Tropics starter Daniel Thornton cruised through five innings allowing just an unearned run on two hits before yielding to Marty Pearce. Pearce imploded allowing a game changing Gran Slam to Royce Hinkle that sealed Hawaii’s fate.
The lone bright spot was Eric Owens going 3 for 4 with a two-run homer off Bessi in the 3rd inning to raise his average to .216.
Vancouver wins the series 2-1.
