Tropics SS Carlos Schumann was a triple short of the cycle and the Hawaii scores late to escape the Krill in the series opener. Schumman was 3 for 4 with a double (3) and hit a two-run homer (2). He scored twice and drove in two runs. Carlos Sanchez had what turned out to be the eventual game winner with a solo homer (4) in the 8th inning off Felix Vidaca.
Starter Semih Gurani pitched 4.2 innings allowing a run on three hits and a walk while fanning three batters in a no decision. Utkan Gocek earned the win after allowing a run in 1.1 innings on a solo homer. He also walked a batter and struck out one. Bob Westbrooks pitched two, one-hit innings with two Ks for his 2nd save.

The Krill fell behind the Trops 5-0 before coming back to take a 7-6 lead after six innings. The Trops tied it up in the 7th on a Carlos Schumann solo blast, his 3rd of the season. The game went into extras until the bottom of the 12th when Hawaii reliever Alex Garcia gave up a run scoring double giving the Krill a series tying win.
Martin ‘Lumps’ Garcia struggled through his start allowing four runs on three hits and seven walks in three innings of work. Lumps has been struggling with control which has been concerning to team management.
The Hawaii offense did hit four homers with Mitch Wareham, Vicente ‘Yogi’ Martinez and Vincente Mendez adding to Schumann’s blast.

Ruben bin Majid al Din bounced back from a weak start against the Portland Lumberjacks with a one-hit, 5.1 inning gem against the Bikini Krill. Majid al Din struck out five as he improves to 2-0 with a 1.42 ERA. The bullpen allowed just a run the rest of the way as the Tropics earn the series win.
Bikini starter Paul Worboys held the Trops offense to just one extra base hit, but Hawaii managed five runs off ‘Hit Squad’ and friends. Carlos Schumann was 1 for 5 with a triple (1) and two RBI. Vincente Mendez has been on a roll from Opening Day and continued with going 2 for 4 with two RBI.
Hawaii wins the series 2-1.
