Hawaii 6 Madison 2- Tuesday, July 4, 2062

Attendance- 35,704 at ‘Iolani Palace

The Hawaii Tropics celebrate the 4th of July with offensive fireworks and a solid team effort on the mound to take Game 1. The fireworks were provided by Carlos Sanchez with a solo homer (13) in the 1st inning and John Harris crushing a Grand Slam (9) in the 5th inning.

On the mound, Martin Garcia gave the Wolves their Lumps allowing two runs on four hits and three walks in five innings. He struck out four batters as he improves to 6-4 with a 2.78 ERA. John Moore threw 2.1 scoreless innings giving up two hits while fanning three. Marty Pearce followed with 1.2 clean innings and two Ks.

Hawaii 1 Madison 0- Wednesday, July 5, 2062

WP- Utbah ‘Crawdad Me’ bin Muta (3-1)

Attendance- 36,304 at ‘Iolani Palace

The Madison Wolves outhit the Tropics 3-2, but Hawaii scores the only run they need to go up 2-0 in the series. The Trops struck in the 1st inning with their winning run with two outs. Eric Owens worked a walk after fouling off six pitches in the at bat. He didn’t have time to settle in at first because Mitch Wareham tripled down the left field line to score Owens.

The pitching staff took over beginning with Semih Gurani throwing 83 pitches in 4.1 innings. He allowed just a hit, walked two and fanned seven in a no decision. ‘Crawdad Me’ took the ball for 2.1 innings and gave up just a hit, walked one and struck out one to earn the win. Marty Pearce faced one batter and induced a ground ball out. Utkan Gocek earns the save with two scoreless innings giving up a hit and striking out two Wolves.

Madison 4 Hawaii 2- Thursday, July 6, 2062

WP- Josh ‘Kid’ Clark (3-7)

LP- Gerardo Rea (3-10)

Save- Clint ‘Spinach’ Thomas (13)

Attendance- 39,921 at ‘Iolani Palace

Hawaii starter Gerardo Rea pitched well against the Wolves but run support has plagued him throughout his career. He pitched six innings allowing three runs (two earned) in four hits and four Ks. He only had two runs of support from his offense as he takes the 10th loss of the season.

Eric Owens was was 2 for 4 and hit his 20th homer of the season with a solo shot in the 4th inning. Rookie Jorge Dodd hist 3rd homer of the season with a solo blast in the 7th inning.

Hawaii 5 Madison 1- Friday, July 7, 2062

WP- Niegloslaw Woywitka (9-2)

LP- Mark Moore (1-9)

Save- Gheorghe Sollomovici (5)

Attendance- 39,926 at ‘Iolani Palace

Hawaii starter Niegloslaw Woywitka baffled the Madison lineup allowing just an unearned run on two hits while he fanned seven batters in seven innings. He wins his 8th of the season and lowers his ERA to 3.32. url=https://statspl.us/brewster/reports/new ... 76777.html]Bob Westbrooks[/url] pitched 1.1 innings allowing three hits with a K then Sollomovici earned the two out save with a K.

John Harris was 2 for 4 with a two-run homer (10) in the 3rd inning. Carlos Antunez popped his 7th homer with a solo homer in the 6th inning. He was 1 for 2 with a walk and scored two runs. Carlos Shumann was 1 for 3 with a triple (4) and two RBI.



The Trops in the series 3-1 and takes the season series 6-2.



“We’re getting a mixed bag right now. Some guys are scuffling while others seem to be coming out their slumps. We need to score more runs.”, commented Hawaii Manager Rich Kerr.
