Bikini starter Jon Brown isn’t an ‘Ace’ but is a consistent #2 or 3 starter. He limited the inept Hawaii offense to a run on four hits while striking out six batters in the win. His opposite for the Trops, Gerardo Rea, gave up two runs on six hits while also fanning six batters.
Trops 2B Carlos Shumann was 1 for 3 with a single that drove in LF Eric Owens. Owens was 1 for 3 with a two-out double (3) in the 7th to put him in scoring position.

The Hawaii Tropics send ten hitters to the plate in a 7-run 2nd inning as they even the series with Bikini. The inning was capped off with a Jose Ordonez Grand Slam (4). Ordonez was 2 for 4 with four ribbies and scored three runs. DH Eric Owens was 2 for 5 with a two-run blast (5) in the 5th and drove in four runs. SS Julian Rivera joined th four RBI group going 2 for 4 with two doubles (6) and scoring a run.
Niegloslaw Woywitka enjoyed the run support allowing him to free and easy. He gave up two runs on two hits and two walks in 5.1 innings. He struck out three batters as he improves to 3-0 with a 1.31 ERA. Marty Pearce followed with 1.2 scoreless innings. He gave up two hits and struck out two. Jesus Rios had a hiccup allowing four runs late in the game.

The Tropics fell behind the Krill 3-0 early in the rubber match before rallying for three runs in the 6th inning to even the score. Hawaii took the lead in the 7th on a Carlos Schumann triple that scored Jose Ordonez from first. Carlos Sanchez followed with a single to send Schumann home with an insurance run.
Schumann was 2 for 4 with the triple (1), a double (9), scored a run and drove in one. Sanchez was also 2 for 4 with a run scored and a ribbie. Carlos Antunez was 2 for 4 with an two-run single in the 6th inning.
Kinzo Iwamoto made the start for Hawaii going five innings allowing three runs on four hits and a couple of walks. He struck out one in a no decision. Reynaldo Trinidad pitched two clean innings while fanning four batters to earn the win. Bob Westbrooks completed the win for Trinidad getting the final two outs for his 3rd save of the season.
Hawaii wins the series 2-1.
