Jake Kestle ran his record to 2-0, 1.50 by tossing 7 strong innings v Washington,
and Hawai'i jumped on Chip Foodie (10-6, 4.09) for 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th
as the Tropics defeated the Bobwhites 6-4 in the first of a three-game sweep at O'ahu.
McKinley Washington picked up save number 28 (career 298).

Hurley Reyes blasted a three-run shot with two outs to chase Foodie. Chong Dae-ik,
pinch-hitting for Kestle, doubled and stole third base with one out to start the 7th-
inning rally. Hughes walked on 4 pitches Liao Kuan doubled in Chong and then Reyes
hit his 22nd home run of the season.

Jean Maurel struck out Jimmy Wilson and Prince Valiant in a 1-2-3 8th but was pulled
with two on and no out in the 9th. A second consecutive error by a Hawai'i infielder
loaded the bases against McKinley Washington. The Bobwhites scored one unearned
run on a sacrifice fly and another on a single by Sorbo; Darius Campbell was thrown
out at third by Liao Kuan, making the first of two defensive gems in the inning.

With Sorbo at first, Washington pitched around Paco Morales before retiring Wilson on
a gapper hit to deep left that Liao nabbed in the webbing of his glove.

(Wilson was 0-5 and left 5 runners on base.)

The teams play two more on O'ahu Monday and Tuesday before traveling 4800 miles to
Washington, DC to extend a veritable six-game series on the mainland. O'ahu is 35 miles
closer to DC than is Moscow, Russia.
