Portland, Oregon-

Hawaii 7 Portland 0- Saturday, April 1, 2062

WP- Kinzo Iwamoto (1-0)

LP- Murali Patachli (0-1)

Attendance- 54,886 at The Trail in Multnomah

The three newest Tropics lead Hawaii to a shutout win over the Portland Lumberjacks in the 2062 season opener. Starter Kinzo Iwamoto pitched 6.1 shutout innings scattering five hits with a walk while fanning four batters for the win. Rookie reliever Marty Pearce made an impression in his 1st game at the big league level going 2.2 clean innings while racking up two Ks.

Newly acquired SS Carlos Shumann was 1 for 5 with his 1st homer as a Tropic with a two-run blast in the 2nd inning. C Enrique Mendoza was 2 for 4 with an RBI and scored a run. The hitter with the biggest day was Jose Ordonez. Ordonez was 4 for 5 with a double (1), stole a base and scored four runs.



Portland 1 Hawaii 0- Sunday, April 2, 2062

WP- Frank Wilson (1-0)

LP- Bob Westbrooks (0-1)

Attendance- 48,152 at The Trail in Multnomah

Hawaii and Portland played to a scoreless tie before Trops rookie Bib Westbrooks gave up a solo homer to the 1st batter he faced in the BBA to take the loss.

The Tropics wasted a great pitching performance by Jose Ordonez after he gave up just a hit in seven innings. He walked three and struck out three in a no decision. Rookie Gheorghe Sollolovici made his debut throwing 26 pitches in 1.1 innings allowing a hit, walked one and struck out two batters.

Ordonez helped himself out at the plate going 3 for 4 but was stranded on the basepaths. Vincente Mendez was also 3 for 4 with a double (1).



Long Beach 3 Hawaii 0- Monday, April 3, 2062

WP- Mauro Esperanda (1-0)

LP- Semih Gurani (0-1)

Save- Frank Wilson (1)

Time: 2:35

Attendance- 40,803 at The Trail in Multnomah

The Portland Lumberjacks handle the Tropics offense again with another shutout to win the series. Hawaii C Jeff Appleton had both Tropics hits in the loss.

Semih Gurani made the start for the Trops going 5.2 innings allowing three runs on four hits and a walk while striking out four to take the loss. Veteran RP Jesus Rios makes his 1st appearance as a Tropic throwing two scoreless innings. He gave up two hits, walked one and struck out one.

Portland wins the series 2-1.
