First of all, our minor league system looks real crappy, in general. There is much work to do in building a solid feeder chain to the Big Leagues.
There is only one position player in AAA San Luis Obispo currently, namely MPG, who looks to be nothing more than a potential big league back-up. At least there are 9 pitchers, one being Dave Righetti! But not much talent on the mound to report, either. Maybe Freddy "Bingo" Bilbao and/or Kevin Brodeur have a chance to do something with the Trops. We'll see. Need to get some players on that team.
In AA Carson City, at least there are 7 position players on the roster. However, none of 'em look like world beaters, and there are a few older guys on the team that are probably too old for AA. There are couple of guys I can identify who might be deserving of promotion to AAA, namely power hitting 27 yr. old 1B Xavier Marcano, who wins the cool name prize, but can't hit a southpaw worth a lick, and 22 yr. old SS Steve Scroggs, who shows nice potential but still needs development. . Former Goonie "Mouth" Devereaux, an OF, has some interesting numbers and attributes, like 10-10-10 speed/stealing/baserunning and is only 23, so he will probably be heading to AAA, and maybe has a shot. LF Darren Bragg shows some plus power, but is woefully average everywhere else, and at 25 in AA, the door is closing. 6 real shitty pitchers populate the rest of the CC roster. They're going nowhere.
Class A Medford will have a real problem facing opposing hitters since they have absolutely NO pitchers whatsoever. I guess that means they'll have to forfeit every game, or maybe 17 year old 3B Justin Hausman will be forced to pitch as he seems to have the best arm of the 5 position players on the roster, and very little apparent potential to do anything else of note. My apologies to Xavier Marcano, but I've decided to change my mind and give the cool name prize to 22 yr. old Skippy "Frango" Mint. Mint will be headed to AA to hone his average utility infielder skills. The other three doofuses on the roster better start making plans for another career.

Hope you're not taking my little write-up as a malicious attack on something you put together, Ross. Not intentionally being cruel about the minors...just trying to look at it from a "fresh" perspective. And BA only ranks 2 of our players in the top 100 (one of 'em being Bilbao at #15), and our system as 17th out of 24 teams. So its not the worst, but far from the best.Railroad_Ross wrote:Rags can burn in hell.
On the other hand, I like a lot of what I'm seeing on the Trops' roster. There's definitely a lot to work with overall. You've left me a nice situation I think.
How come you didn't stay with Hawaii?
(BTW...I'm using the whole "Star-Bulletin" name because I'm actually in a group of Dynasty Fantasy Leagues with a bunch of guys, three of whom work in the S-B sports dept., including the assistant sports editor, Sjarif Goldstein, and a couple of writers. We've been together for 8 years now, playing Roto Baseball, H2H Football, and H2H Basketball, all using the Dynasty format, with rookie drafts. I found it fortuitous to be granted the Hawaii franchise, and the ability to use the S-B for TNs was an obvious choice. They're great guys, who I consider friends now that we've been together for so long.)

Not of what you got there was what I built... I inherited the same team you did, nearly exactly.
I just hate the real Dave Pisghetti - he told me get lost kid when I asked him for an autograph.

Rags = Righetti
I thought you were using the word Rags to refer to Newspapers, and newspaper writers.
