Rory West claimed by Hawai'i
Will he add anything to the Tropics bullpen?

Rory West
Looks like former number one draft pick P Rory West is headed for the shores of Hawaii if the
Tropics waiver claim goes through. Looks like GM Al Hoot is getting desperate to shore up his
middle relief.
"We hate to burn a million six, or whatever we have to pay this season," said Hoot, "But he's
an awfully popular player and maybe he can keep attendance at all time highs."
Hawai'i has played 28 games at home and is averaging 49,700 a game, despite its 23-40
record. At that rate, the team will draw 40 million fans by season's end. Hawai'i last
approached that mark in 1998, when they drew 3,938,628.
West has an ERA of 12.41 in 13 games. He has started one game this season for Omaha. Last
year he was 2-0 in 41 relief appearances. The year before that he started 22 of 49 games and
finished 13-6 with an ERA of 3.38 (tenth in the league).
"I tell y'all what: any player from Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia is welcome on our team," Hoot
said.
He throws a large selection of junk, said manager Al Chavez.
