SP Carl 'Daffy' MacNeill was the CPL BL's Best Pitcher in May with a 5-0, 1.81 record, after
winning the award in April, going 4-0, 0.85.
Teammate Phil Richter was placed into the starting rotation and spun off three wins, giving up
1 run in 3 games (0.36 ERA).
The two helped lead Medford to a 21-8 May record and 36-12 overall, 4 games ahead of the
pesky Aspen Surge (N.O.), who have won 10 straight.
The Mules 3B Bill Carson won April Batter of the month.
MacNeill, Carson, and four other Mules head for the All-Star Game. "The Others" are SP Marc
Pierson, SP Jeff Walker, CL Brad Robinson, and OF Mario Romero.
A notch above
At the Double-A level, southpaw SP Denis Charette won WCL DNL Pitcher of the month honors
with a record of 6-0, 2.41. The British Columbia native has won 10 consecutive starts for a
season mark of 10-0, 1.95.
Teammate Jeff Hartle is 5-3 in 10 starts with 2.35 ERA and 0.99 WHIP.
Carson City went 24-5 in May for an overall 34-14 record, 17 games ahead of second place
Duluth (CLG).
Charette, SP Arthur Wiggins, CL Wally 'the kid' Walker, and CF Terry Drake were selected to
the All-Star game roster.
