SS Pat Sims appears recovered from two injuries that saw him on the DL twice already in 2004
while INF Jeff Mueller hits the DL with a injured thumb.
Pat Sims
First it was a knee, then a shoulder, that limited the switch-hitting Sims to seven games in
mid-April. He's started all but one game in May, hitting .241 but slugging .483 thanks to two
doubles, a triple, and a home run. In thirteen starts at short he's participated in thirteen
double plays. He has three two-hit games in May.
Jeff Mueller
Mueller, meanwhile, played three games May, after starting 25 in April. He is expected to miss
two weeks. This season, Mueller has started 7 games at short, 5 at first, 4 at second, and 2 at
third.
Both Sims and Mueller were late season call ups last year and are considered key players in
the team's rebuilding efforts.
