Hi 06.07 - Macneill wins 3 in 9 days; runs win streak to 8

Lefty Daffy MacNeill defeated Las Vegas, Birmingham, and division-leading
Vancouver, pitching on 3 days rest against the latter two teams.

MacNeill ended July 5-0, 2.02 in 6 starts, which won him JL Pitcher-of-
the-month and kept Hawaii above .500.

MacNeill, who has led the JL in ERA for "a couple months now," ran his
"consecutive decision" streak to 8 wins.

"Heck, If they'd a let me start the All-Star Game instead of finish it,
we [the JL] mightta won."

"I tell y'all what," GM Hoot said, "if anyone's deserving of 'pitcher of the
sim,' it's the Daff."

After defeating LV on Sun July 23rd, 10-4 (in a game he led 10-1 after
six innings); MacNeill then pitched on 3 days rest against a tough Birmingham
squad, going 8 innings and striking out 8, in an 8 to 2 win.

Four days later the 25-year-old took the mound versus Vancouver and threw
7 innings of shut out ball, scattering five hits, before departing "so as not to
wear out his arm."

The win against the Mounties moved Hawaii back to within 2 games of
division-leading Vancouver. Hawaii closes out a 4-game series vs the
Mounties today and plays division rivals Valencia and California for 6 and 3
games, respectively, over the next eleven days.

MacNeill moved to second in the JL in wins with 13. He has allowed two home
runs in 157.6 innings pitched. His JL-leading ERA stands at 2.51.

to his advice. And I hope he can rejoin us asap.

Macneill was my pre-season pick for Newcomer of the Year in JL. Looking like a good pick!
