Sakutaro Kawano shut down the Tropics offense allowing Hawaii’s lineup just two hits in seven innings to send Trops fans home sad. Vincente Mendez doubled (2) and Carlos Schumann singled for the Trops hits.
Slobodan Omeragic made the start throwing 67 pitches in 4.1 innings allowing three runs on four hits. He also walked two batters and struck out two in the loss. The bullpen was on point with 4.2 scoreless innings giving up four hits and striking out two.

Trops starter Daniel Thornton took the loss after pitching 4.1 innings allowing four runs on three hits and a couple of walks while striking out four batters.
Jose Ordonez was 3 for 4 with two doubles (2) and two ribbies.

Vincente Mendez blasts two homers and drives in five runs to propel the Trops to a win. Mendez was 2 for 5 with a three-run homer in the 1st inning and a two-run missile in the 6th. Vicente ‘Yogi’ Martinez hit his 2nd homer of the season with a solo homer in the 7th inning.
Semih Gurani made his 2nd start going four innings allowing two runs on four hits with three Ks. Ordonez picked up the win with 2.1 clean innings in relief of Gurani. Utkan Gocek earned a cheap, one out save with a K.
The Mad Popes win the series 2-1.
Hawaii Manager Amato Cruz said, “The new hitting machine helped us avoid the sweep against Michihiro.”
