The Bikini Atoll-

Hawaii 11 Bikini 5- Sunday, September 24, 2062

WP- Harry Edwards (1-0)

LP- Felix Vidaca (5-5)

Attendance- 23,437 at Forever Field

The Trops take advantage of two errors by the Krill defense to chase Vidaca and Dana Munce in the series opener. Hawaii put up six runs 4th inning after back-to-back errors by the Krill defense. In the end, the Trops sent 11 batters to the plate to go up 7-0 and in the driver’s seat.

Rookie Vicente ‘Yogi’ Martinez has made an immediate impact for Hawaii late in the season. He was 2 for 4 in his 1st game vs the Krill with a walk, double (4) and a two-run homer (3). He drove in three runs and scored two runs.

Semih Gurani made the start for Hawaii and threw just 58 pitches in 4.1 innings. He gave up a run on a hit with four Ks in a no decision. Harry Edwards earned the win with 2.2 innings of work allowing a run on two hits and two Ks.

Hawaii 3 Bikini 2- Monday, September 25, 2062

The Tropics rally with one out in the top of the 9th for two runs to stun the Bikini Krill. Enrique Mendoza doubled to drive in the game tying run then Vincente Mendez doubled to score Mendoza with the go ahead run.

Gheorghe Sollomovici induced a fly ball in the bottom of the 9th before making way for Utkan Gocek. Gocek induced a can of corn and a 6-3 ground out to earn the save.

Hawaii 6 Bikini 1- Tuesday, September 26, 2062

WP- Gerardo Rea (4-14)

LP- Herman Deckard (3-8)

Save- None

Attendance- 24,370 at Forever Field

Hawaii’s Gerardo Rea made a spot start for the Trops to set the order for the playoffs. Rea responded with 8.1 innings of one run baseball. He allowed the run on a solo homer and just two hits on the day. He walked one and struck out three to get the win.

On offense, Hawaii had homers from John Harris and Vincente Mendez. Mendez was 2 for 4 with his 14th homer, a triple (7), scored a run and drove in three. Harris was 1 for with his 17th homer.

Bikini 2 Hawaii 1- Wednesday, September 27, 2062

WP- Steve Truss (1-0)

LP- Martin ‘Lumps’ Garcia (10-9)

Save- Winston ‘Fast Lane’ Morris (33)

Attendance- 20,041 at Forever Field

The Bikini Krill deny the Tropics the Pacific Division crown with a gem pitched by Stev Truss and company. Truss gave up a run on four hits and a couple of walks in seven innings while fanning six Tropics hitters. He handed the ball to his bullpen for the final two innings. They held Hawaii’s offense to just a hit and Fast Lan Morris locked it up for his 33rd save.

Hawaii’s lone run was a solo blast by rookie Lynn Avison. Avison was 1 for 3 with a walk and a solo homer (7) in the 7th inning.

The Hawaii Tropics win the series 3-1 and end the regular season tied with the Sacramento Mad Popes at the top of the Pacific. They will play a one-game, winner take all for the Pacific Division in Sacramento.



“We didn’t think we would catch the M’opes but we like our chances now.”, said Hawaii Manager Rich Kerr.
