The Hawaii Tropics offense couldn’t solve Bears pitching scoring a run on just three hits in the series opener. Jerry Richards mauled the Trops allowing a run on two hits while walking three and fanning six in 5.1 for the win. The San Fernando bullpen followed with one hit ball for 3.2 innings to secure the win.
Hawaii starter Semih Gurani allowed three runs on eight hits and a walk in four innings. He struck out four as he drops his 8th game of the season.
John Harris had two of the three Hawaii hits with a couple of doubles (25), a walk and an RBI.

The Bears offense attacks the Trops early with four runs in the 1st inning and survive a late Hawaii surge in the 8th inning to go up 2-0 in the series.
Young Trops pitcher Reynaldo Trinindad gave up four of the five runs he allowed in the 1st but settled down a bit to go 3.1 innings. He walked four batters and struck out two as he is tagged with this 3rd loss.
Hawaii’s offense finally deplaned the aircraft after a pathetic showing in Game 1. Carlos Sanchez was 2 for 5 with his 26th double and two RBI. Jorge Dodd was 2 for 4 with a double (10), an RBI and scored a run. Eric Owens was 2 for 5 with a double (41) and a solo homer (34).

It was all Bears, all the time at Chico’s Bail Bonds as San Fernando goes up 3-0 on Hawaii. Trops starter had an uneventful 1st inning, but the wheels fell off after and gave up five runs on 2.1 innings. He falls to 14-7 with a 3.38 ERA. The bullpen was no better as they combined to allow six runs on eight hits and a couple of walks in 5.2 innings.
The Trops produced nine hits but scratched across just a run. Eric Owens was 2 for 4 with his 35th homer of the season.

Bears starter Morris Chapa holds the Trops to just one hit in seven innings but Hawaii avoids the sweep. The one hit was a solo blast (15) by John Harris in the 7th inning to put the Trops up 1-0.
Hawaii’s pitching staff put up zeroes all day beginning with Martin ‘Lumps’ Garcia going six innings and giving up just three hits. He walked one and fanned four to even his record at 8-8. Bob Westbrooks followed with a clean innings with a K for his 6th hold. Gheorghe Sollomovici then gave up three hits in 1.2 innings ofr his 13th hold followed by a one out save (17) by Utkan Gocek via the K.
The San Fernando Bears win the series 3-1 to creep closer to the Tropics in the Pacific.
