Twin Cities 8 Hawaii 4- Saturday, July 15, 2062

Attendance- 56,300 at Land O’Lakes Ballpark

River Monsters 1B Raul ‘Scooter’ Gallehos terrorized Hawaii pitching hitting two homers and driving in five runs to give his team a series opening win. Trops starter Gerardo Rea gave up Gallehos 1st homer of the day in the 3rd inning and was chased after allowing four runs in 4.1 innings. His 2nd homer was off Utkan Gocek in the 8th inning that drove in three.

The Trops had a two-run triple (3) off the bat of Eric Owens in the 1st inning and took a 3-0 lead early on, but the wheels fell off along the way.

Hawaii 4 Twin Cities 2- Sunday, July 16, 2062

WP- Gheorghe Sollomovici (3-2)

LP- Peter Fuller (3-6)

Save- Utkan Gocek (16)

Attendance- 64,436 at Land O’Lakes Ballpark

Hawaii starter Kinzo Iwamoto gave up two solo homers to the River Monsters through six innings then the Trops turned to the bullpen to keep Twin Cities offense at bay. They responded with one hit allowed the rest of the way and Gheorghe Sollomovici getting the win. Sollomovici gave up the hit, walked one and struck out one on 1.2 innings.

Offensively, Hawaii put up 4 runs on 13 hits and 3 walks to get past the River Monsters. Carlos Shumann was 1 for 4 with a two-run triple (5) in the 2nd inning. Carlos Sanchez was 3 for 5 with a double (15), an RBI and scored a run.

Twin Cities 3 Hawaii 0- Monday, July 17, 2062

WP- Ruben Flores (5-0)

LP- Martin ‘Lumps’ Garcia (6-5)

Save- Peter Fuller (19)

Attendance- 45,104 at Land O’Lakes Ballpark

Twin Cities starter Ruben Flores dominated the Hawaii lineup allowing just four hits in eight shutout innings to pick up the win. Peter Fuller pitched a clean inning for the save.

Hawaii starter ‘Lumps’ Garcia wasn’t bad allowing two runs on four hits and a couple of walks in 5.1 innings. He struck out five as he falls to 6-5 with a 2.83 ERA.

The offense sucked again.

Hawaii 6 Twin Cities 2- Tuesday, July 18, 2062

WP- Niegloslaw Woywitka (11-2)

LP- Jerry ‘Flounder’ Stone (8-6)

Attendance- 49,941 at Land O’Lakes Ballpark

Hawaii starter Niegloslaw Woywitka picked up his 11th win as the Trops eke out a series split with the River Monsters. Woywitka allowed a couple of runs on five hits and a walk in 5.1 innings of work. He fanned five and his ERA is now 3.21 on the season. The bullpen was stellar beginning with John Moore. Moore gave up just a hit, walked one and fanned one in 1.1 innings. Marty Pearce followed with 1.2 scoreless giving up a hit and a K. Bob Westbrooks set the final two batters down and walked one.

Jeff Appleton was 1 for 4 with a two-run homer (3) in the 5th inning. Vincente Mendez was 1 for 4 with a solo homer (6) in the 4th inning. John Harris drove in two and was 1 for 4.

The Tropics and River Monsters split the four-game series and Hawaii wins the season series 6-2.
