Walter starts 4 times in 10 days: WTF?
Tropics seeking first winning month of season
McGraw will not be signed- read my lips
Reyes blasts 4 in 2 games

Reyes on track for #400 in 2004?
Hurley Reyes, Mister Consistency, hit 4 home runs in two games, in losing causes to Washington
and Montreal, bringing his total to 22 in 101 games started. Reyes missed two weeks in April
but since has hit either 5 or 6 home runs each month. 8 more this season will leave him 28 shy
of 400. Reyes hit his 300th home run in Hawaii two years ago. Reyes turned 34 in June.
Walter follows shut with 3 starts in 7 days.
No one was surprised when Dave Walter threw a five hit shut v Louisville 10 days ago, raising
the Tropics 2003 record to 8-1 v the so-called Sluggers. Yet team officials cannot explain why the
lefty from Bonduel, Wisconsin started three days later v Carolina, two days after that v Washing-
ton, and yet again four days later against Montreal.
Surely he was fatigued after throwing 94 pitches v Louisville, yet there he was on the mound 3
days later, allowing 7 hits and 5 runs in 2.2 innings v the Kraken. "We can't blame that on the
crowd or the telephone. It's a organizational frack up," said Stitch Lilo. "As was his start just
two days later v the Bobwhites," in which he allowed 8 hits and four runs in 5.1 innings. When
he went 8 innings v Montreal three days later, well let's say the Tropics will take the win
despite the foul ups.
Meanwhile Micheal Duran, enjoying a bounce back year, sat on his arse all sim and didn't pitch.
Again: WTF?
Sad Sam Jones has hit .324 since coming to Hawaii on the first.
Robert Cullison, called up from Triple-A after the departure of Messrs Oneill and Stowell, has
banged out 11 doubles in 67 at bats. Cullison, 31, was hitting .324 at Triple-A Death Valley.
Two years ago he hit 13 home runs in 67 games started for Hawaii.
Alphons Torres refuses to talk shop with Hawaii after the Tropics, per his wish, traded him.
Celebrity team crooner-owner Don Ho has said the team will not spend $7m a year on Tug,
sorry Tim, McGraw after this season. "Not unless he wakes up and plays some ball."
The Tropics eagerly hoist the Louisville Sluggers for three today, Friday, and Saturday; before
playing three at California (a team the Tropics face 11 times the last five weeks of the season).
The team returns to O'ahu to face nemesis Black Sox. Hawaii also has eight more contests v
third place Valencia, who Hawaii trails by 1 in the win column. The Tropics are 8-9 in August
but may be hard pressed to end the month over .500—even after sweeping Louisville.
Guess Who?
