On the Diamond Vol. 12 2000

Pitcher of the sim:
SP Oscar Funke
2-0 with a 1.12 ERA and 14 K's in 16 IP. Its great to see sims like this from Funke.

Batter of the sim:
SS Peter Montserrat
.429 Avg in 28 AB's. With the demise of Jason Grass, Montserrat has taken on a more prominent role splitting time between starting at SS and backing up the other infield spots. Highly doubtful he will produce like this the rest of the season but who knows?

7-3 sim. Solid results post trade deadline. Took 3 out of 4 from Vancouver and split 2-2 with Valencia. With Vancouver dealing with injuries perhaps Cali can make up some serious ground on them. Need to give a special shoutout to SP Ted Shaw. Shaw threw a no hitter with 12 K's against Vancouver in the most outstanding performance of his career. After having an outstanding season in the pen last year, Shaw is getting his chance in the rotation and is making the most of it. In 20 starts this season he is 7-6 but sports a 2.45 ERA. Hopefully Shaw can keep this up and help propel California into the postseason.

Montserrat was always a consistent player for me, a very solid utility guy.
