Gonzales, 25, was traded to the Nine in August 2059 in a deadline deal with the Mexico City Aztecs for Tyson Morris, along with Alphonse Leese, who was later traded to Charm City in 2061. The right-hander was a 4th round draft pick for the Aztecs in 2053.
Gonzales never caught on with the Nine, going 0-1 with a 6.46 ERA in 2059, then 0-0 with a 7.42 ERA in 2062 in 13 games and 26.2 innings pitched. His FIP of 5.86 and WHIP of 1.99 with the Nine in 2062 were contributing factors to his waiving vs utilizing an option.
"I hope Pedro does well in Texas," said GM Rob McMonigal, but we felt we had better options in AAA that we'd rather hold onto instead of Mr. Gonzales. His base and advanced stats at the BBA level combined with poor marks in AAA made us think it was time to move on. Not all trades work out an this one just didn't turn out the way we'd hoped.
Gonzales for his career with the Nine finished 0-1 with 1 save, a 7.07 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and -.7 WAR in 42 innings pitched.
