The Yellow Springs Nine congratulate the Silver Springs Tarpons on their 2060 Championship, their first since 2040 and third overall.
Finishing first for the third time in the past four years, the Tarpons set a team record for wins with 90, topping the 2040 Tarpons by just one game. They then proceeded to mow down the also 90-game winning Quebec Capitals 2-0 before facing the 108 win juggernaut of the legendary Toledo Liberty. They quickly put a crack in Toledo's plans, beating them 2-0 as well, causing all Denny's restaurants to close for three days of mourning. Finally, it was on to the Pegler Series, where they defeated the Huntsville Phantoms 3-1.
Manager Huibert Staps had this to say on their victory: "GM Rob McMonigal told the world that we were building a team to take down the Liberty and no one believed him. Well, they're believing us now. We've come so far from the team that lost 97 games in 2052 and that's really due to strong drafting and development. The Nine's farm system may not have splashy stars, but they do have talent. A lot of it. I'm so glad I got to see this happen."
Added batting coach and Hall of Famer Dong-po Thum: "These players listen well, and that makes my job as a coach far easier. I love helping these youngsters and while maybe someday I'd like to be a BBA hitting coach, I'm extremely proud of what we've accomplished here in Silver Springs – and we're just getting started."
We'll let GM Rolen McMasters have the last word: "Sean [Reclusive Talons GM™] said it couldn't be done. Well, guess what, @jiminyhopkins ? You may have the better BBA team, but we all know it's the Pegler that matters and we're going to keep it in the Nine organization! You Marko my words!"
