2061.03 Nine Celebrate Road Runners Success
An Official Press Release:
The Yellow Springs Nine congratulate the Alomogordo Road Runners on their division win in 2060, marking their fourth time winning the Cowboy Division in the past eight years. This also marks their third consecutive year with 40 or more wins, as well as their seventh out of the past eight years reaching the 40 win mark.
With a 42-26 record, the Road Runners plowed into the playoffs, beating Mexican-American Division winners Monclova Aqua Sox 4-2 before running into the 51-win Cheyenne Bulls and losing in a 4 game sweep.
"Yet another year of mostly new players and the same results," said GM Roderick McMinville. "I couldn't be happier about the job that Manager Angel Cuevas does for us in Alomogordo. He's the only man I want working with our youngest players. He could be a superstar manager with any team and any class of players, but he's better than anyone else at getting these men, often just teenagers, acclimated to the life of professional baseball."
"It's really an honor to have this team on such an amazing winning streak," said Cuevas, who has never had a losing season in his managerial career and sports two Championships along with 7 playoff appearances, all with the Road Runners. "Once upon a time, I asked Mac [McMinville] to move me up or I'd consider changing organizations. But man, I look at what we've done here in our corner of the BBA and I'm just so very proud. I'll keep doing this as long as they ask me to."
Here were some of the top players for the Road Runners in 2060:
SP Aurelio Garcia, 2060 2nd round pick, 8-2, 2.80 ERA, 68Ks, 1.01 WHIP, 3.1 WAR, League Leader in WAR, 3rd overall in wins.

RP Luis Young, 2060 6th round pick, 24 saves, 1.04 ERA, 30Ks, 0.78 WHIP, 1.3 WAR, League Leader in Saves, 1x Pitcher of the Moth, 2nd in Reliever of the Year (High School) 2060, 3rd in Reliever of the Year (Rookie Ball).

Hartman is ready for the BBA. I’d have that guy playing full season ball.

There's zero need to rush him. He barely played in Rookie due to an injury. If he crushes SA I'll move him up, but I follow the general rule of a level a year unless they do something insane like Navarro and blow away the competition.BaseClogger wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 12:29 pmHartman is ready for the BBA. The slower you take it the less time he plays for your team (assuming you'll keep extending him). He won't be 10 infield range forever. Just my $0.02.Trebro wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 2:40 pmThere's zero need to rush him. He barely played in Rookie due to an injury. Re: 2061.03 Nine Celebrate Road Runners Success
I do agree with Baseclogger that I'd have him, at least, in A ball to get him more games. He's a hell of a SS right now with the shortage. I wouldn't rush his clock in the BBA though until you're ready to compete for a wildcard. My $0.02.
Do with him as you will, though. He's yours.

Re: 2061.03 Nine Celebrate Road Runners Success
FWiW for both of you, I saw enough in Short-A to move him up to A, and he's killing it in A ball, so he might end year in AA. I do like to see how players handle levels, but I'm also starting to come around to the idea of pushing people further faster than I historically did, because what I was doing didn't seem to work (see Kantor, Barron, and possibly Schwartz).shoeless.db wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2024 4:14 pmI do agree with Baseclogger that I'd have him, at least, in A ball to get him more games. Every prospect is different and several of those guys needed a lot of development. Hartman is unique because when I scout his actual ratings he’s already nearly an all-star. Sometimes players need their final development to take place in the majors if that’s where their actual ratings can place them.
