YS9News 22.05 - Sim 12 Diversity Day

The Nine signed its 2nd and 3rd free agents in July. We might have to stop there, as money for FA's is getting really slim. Right now, we have a $27M charge against us this season (leftover from BC canned salaries) and a similar charge already waiting for us next season, I guess for the same reason. There is one coach making $4M a year through 2023 and I can't wait to get him off the payroll. Maybe I'll just fire his ass now, except he highly rated. He is 71. Owners die. Why won't this coach kick the buckett?

Okay so this sim the Nine welcomes back Moses 'Prima Donna' Tallchief to the team.

After 14 starts last year Tallchief was 4-5 3.19. Then Meseck dumps him, with two years left on a seven year extension. But I guess if you wanna tank, or lose games, or start over, that's something Tim do. I mean Tallchief was by far the best pitcher on the Nine last year. He still had enough in him to contritube to Calgary's playoff chase and get a LMS championship ring. The Chief has had some injury problems in the past, he missed 18 months including all of 2020 and he had a tired arm this spring. Tallchief was on a seven year extension that was through this year (2023), and I imagine part of that was part of the salary the team is still paying. Now we are paying him again for this season. Wippee! He is still only 35 and I hope he can pitch better than Carlos Acevedo (2-14 7.89).

The Nine picked up an Irishman off the waiver wire. The squad has a new corner outfielder in Stephen Ireland. He is at the Mendoza line right no but he is .224 lifetime. YS 9.1 doesn't have a real power hitter (although Calico Watson has hit 7 in 26 games). I hope Ireland can hit a few out. Our outfield is totally redone. He will probably start in left field so that Leon Martinez can stay in right.

The team signed a new center fielder-a European, and that will be another TN. The team also signed an Australian and a Chinese guy as international amteurs. So yay for diversity.
