"I don't get how a team laden with stars does so shit?"confirmed GM Hopkins.
Gm Hopkins has gone back on his 'no tinkering' pledge and has gradually stamped his face on the team once more...
Good-bye Allan Atkins! Atkins was lights out in 1996, but for whatever reason, (poor mgmnt - according to the player), he could not recapture his 1996 form; so GM Hopkins designated him for assignment. Luckily enough, Hawaii came calling and took the former Talon star away.
Next to feel the effects of an unhappy boss, was catcher Theo Epstien. The young lad has enjoyed a torrid time under the manager. First year with the manager, he sat out the bulk of the year with injury, and now on Hopkins' second tour of duty he finds himself losing his job to light-hitting Jimmy Waite. Sandwiching his two unproductive years with Hopkins, was a monster 1996 for Theo.
The biggest change of all is recent free-agent signing David Cone. Cone represents GM Hopkins' last throw of the dice with the Talon franchise, before blowing up the entire roster, and starting fresh. Cone will get his first start, on Tuesday to open up the 3 game series at the wild-card chasing Louisville Sluggers. Cone will have to wait until August for his first home start.

Despite all of the disappointing results, and the 41-56 record, the Phoenix Talon are still only 6.5 games back in the worst division in baseball.
