Wildcard Showdown: Mexico City Vs Rocky Mountain
Off Topic
Mexico City, Mexico — With just four games left in the regular season, the Mexico City Aztecs control their own destiny as they head to Smashburger Field to face the Rocky Mountain Oysters.
The Aztecs only need to win one of the four games to secure a playoff spot, but that will be easier said than done after losing Wafid Bishr for two weeks due to a strained PCL.
Bishr was injured in the top of the 5th inning after delivering a two-out RBI Double against the Ausitn Shredders. With Bishr out of the lineup, Juan Schorr will need to step-up in a big way if the Aztecs are going to secure their playoff birth.
Pitching matchups for the series:
Game 1:
MEX: Vassilis Zorba (4-3, 3.86 ERA)
RMO: Slobodan Omeragic (7-2, 3.78 ERA)
Game 2:
MEX: Johnny Nicholson (10-6, 4.06 ERA)
RMO: Ken Steele (16-7, 3.56 ERA)
Game 3:
MEX: Ji-e Woo (13-9, 4.24 ERA)
RMO: Jamie Barber (10-14, 5.92 ERA)
Game 4:
MEX: Dave Corfield (14-11, 3.86 ERA)
RMO: Steven Flannery (8-13, 4.90 ERA)
"We've battled injuries all season to get to this point, and we will continue to do so" said Aztecs GM Brandon Tucker. We just need to go out there and play like we are capable of playing and do our best to win.
