In an electrifying game that kept fans on the edge of their seats, Wafid Bishr of the Mexico City Aztecs delivered a performance for the ages to secure an 11-8 victory over the New Orleans Crawdads in eleven innings.
Bishr went 5 for 6 at the plate, driving in an impressive 5 RBIs and achieving the rare feat of hitting for the cycle. His outstanding game included 2 singles, a double, triple, and home run, showcasing his power, versatility and skill.
The game was anything but a nail-biter as New Orleans jumped out to a 6-0 score and led for most of the game. Down 8-3, the Aztecs scored 5 runs in the top of the ninth to tie the game at 8-8. Dave Corfield had another sluggish start for Mexico and was pulled after the 3rd inning.
Jason Bergheimer was able to provide long relief and Sergio Tormes closed out the game to pick-up the win. Richard Lawrence picked up the save after facing only one batter. Kinzo Iwamoto actually pitched very well for New Orleans going 7 innings while giving up only 1 earned run. It was a total bullpen failure after 7 innings however, with Jason Nelson taking the loss for the Crawdads.
