Amos Moses South (Madison) – 6’5”, 34 years old, 2B/LF, R/R – A fading player, South still has a little pop and knocked 26 out of the park last season. His OBP however is a problem, topping out at .317 this past year, which was his highest in full time work since 1990. South is also a bit of a defensive liability. If the Wolves are to move forward, Amos will have to be replaced in the near future. Free agent eligible. Signed for 1 year at $2,500,000.

Sean Berry (Madison) – 5’10”, 29 years old, 2B/RF, R/R – An MLB defector, Berry has found some life in the MBBA as a bench player. He is poor defensively, but his batting average and OBP were quite good last season. Still, one would hope for more defense from their backup second baseman. Arbitration eligible. Signed for 1 year at $600,000.
Garry Macon (Nashville) – 6’0”, 25 years old, 2B/3B/SS/RF, R/R – Macon is the Wolves top 2B prospect. His defense is an improvement over the two guys at the big league level and he has good flexibility in his ability to move around the infield. Garry is an elite contact hitter, with excellent gap power and a good eye. He’s had two cups of coffee with little success so far, but don’t expect the new management to not give him a third shot really soon. Not yet arbitration eligible. Signed for the $300,000 minimum.
Jim Oneill (Rockford) – 6’0”, 20 years old, 2B/3B/SS, R/R – Oneill is an immensely talented defensive infielder who can hit a little as well. He’s basically a poor man’s Garry Macon at the plate, he has good contact and gap power with a decent eye. But he’ll win a lot of games with his glove at any skilled infield position. He needs some more time to develop as a youngster, but expect him to have a long career in the big leagues. Still under a minor league contract.
