Something to smile about...
Wolves Wire // July 29, 2063 // by Gertie

"Well butter my biscuit and call me a scout—this kid’s got the goods!" Gertie said with a gleam in her eye, reacting to 22-year-old Alfredo Hernandez being named Frick League Player of the Week in just his first full week in the BBA.

Called up straight from Saint Johns, the fresh-faced left fielder didn't just hold his own—he put on a hitting clinic. In 26 at-bats, Hernández tallied 13 hits for a .500 batting average, smacked 2 home runs, and drove in 7 RBIs. Opposing pitchers? Shell-shocked. Wolves fans? Swooning. Gertie? Already engraving his name on a Wolves lunch pail.

"You don't get handed playing time around here," Gertie snapped between bites of cornbread. "You earn it. If you produce, you play. If you don’t? You’re on a bus back to South Bend before your locker’s even cold."

When asked about the honor, the humble rookie had this to say:

“It’s surreal. I just wanted to help the team win and show I belonged. Getting Player of the Week is just… wow. I’m grateful for the opportunity, and I’m going to keep working.”

Season Line: .500 AVG, 2 HR, 7 RBI, 8 Runs

Gertie didn’t hesitate to toss one more compliment in before storming off to yell at the bullpen coach.

"The kid swings like he’s been in the league ten years, but he runs like he still sneaks into the movies on a student ID. If he keeps this up, the Wolves may have found themselves a new cornerstone—and I ain’t talking about the kind you bury a time capsule under."
