Tim
Further to my previous E-Mail, thanks for the crumpets and Strawberry Jam and here’s my overview of some of the minor league prospects.

Minor League Pitching

Mike Hall “ Fresh Prince” 2000 1:7
4 solid pitches including a wicked Knucklecurve. Not a traditional blow you away pitcher he does have decent velocity but relies more on guile Has struggled with his control early in career. Still has impressive figures for a youngster. Beloit Blue Sox AA..

Luis Luna 2001 1:4
Leftie not as much variety as Hall but superior quality of pitch best being a well disguised changeup. Playing for Monclava Aqua Sox still has a fair way to go to realize his potential and would suggest we don’t rush him.

Abe Colbert 1999 1:7
Has great variety but only one real pitch of quality an almost unplayable Knuckleball. Probably the most major league ready pitcher. Another playing in Monclava.

Gerard Thompson 2001 1:1
Another youngster who relies on disguise and great control but won’t blow many away. His staple pitches are a very good changeup and sinker, but he also possesses a decent fastball and an improving slider. Another leftie to provide some much needed variety in the rotation at some time in the future

Minor League Hitting:

C Esterban “Litterbug Garcia.
We’re starting to think his nickname comes from the rubbish he throws from behind the plate. Not the greatest arm but in truth not terrible, has just enough to keep baserunners honest. Offensively has a very good eye and will get on base regularly. Reasonable power picks his pitches well. Is starting in Carolina at the minute but could well be worth a call up before long.

CF Fernan Conrado
Best young fielder in our system equally at home at left or Center. At the minute we’re playing him a bit on the right too to round him off. Has great range and is virtually error free. Shows signs of promise at bat, with good power and ability to find the gap if very raw at the minute. Tends to strike out frequently but hopefully that will improve with experience. Most promising of all is his raw speed and baserunning instincts. If he gets on base he’s a real handful. At Boulder at the minute which is probably the best place for him at this stage in his career.

All in all we have some decent prospects by most are a fair way off being ready for a call up. That said the future is bright provided we manage their development properly.
