Spurlock was born to Mormon missionaries in 2038 and began playing Little League when his parents settled down into Pleasant Grove, UT. He was selected 15th overall by the Boise Spuds in the 2055 amateur draft, but his draft stock possibly slid due to reports he may not pitch on Sundays. He was then traded to the Bluebirds in exchange for RP Ricardo Rivera in 2056.

As a 16-year-old, Spurlock showed he was far more advanced than his peers in rookie ball posting a 3.13 ERA in 12 starts in 2055. A year later he split time between Boise and Nashville Short A systems and continued to impress with a combined 2.59 ERA in 11 starts earning a spot on the Single A postseason roster for the Springdale Roosters. That lone start wasn’t his best, but he will begin 2057 in Single A, though he may prove ready for tougher competition despite his age. With no room in Nashville’s pitching staff, he won’t be rushed too quickly.

Not much to report here. Spurlock didn't change much from last season, though added a point of stamina. He pitched well last season in Single A with a 73 FIP- in 135 IP. He'll be 20 this year and pitch again in Single A, though he would be up another level or two if he were older. This kid might be a good reliever conversion at some point.

I really liked Spurlock when I acquired him from Boise. He had good movement and decent repertoire of pitches and was a lefty, except he wasn't. I thought he was a LHP, but turns out he only bats left-handed, which took away a bit of the appeal for me. Whatever, as long as he produces results, right? Right. Spurlock has been the best pitcher in Single A this season sporting a 1.12 ERA and a no-hitter. He is on a current 31.0 scoreless IP streak.

He already had 300 innings at A ball. Why not start him at AA? Woulda opened up that spot for Basanta too.

All he to do with age limits. There’s guys in AA I want starting. I SHOULD just release one of my AAA starters, but didn’t have too much time before opening day to make roster changes because I was out of town. I suppose I could do it now, but meh.

You have a couple of three pitch guys in their mid 20s in the upper minors I would have moved to the bullpen because I could use them there. This is probably where I should be taking notes.

I just realized last sim I had a starter and reliever swapped in my AAA rotation. Atil is replacing Reardon.

Just realized Atil is older than I realized. Might make another change. I’ve been pretty absent since last season and haven’t had time to look as closely as I’d like.

Alright, with the delayed sim I was able to make some moves. Spurlock and Beckham (7-0, 1.37 ERA, just missed the list) moved up to AA with Anaya and E. Ortiz going up to AAA.
