Following a disappointing 2046 season, Nashville GM, Chad Nason, vowed to return to mediocrity in 2047. In order to reach such great heights would require the team to make some moves to replace AAA players with washed up has-beens or “oh that guy’s still around” type players. With plenty of cap room, Nason went into free agency aggressively, making multiple offers right out the gate.
After trading away Lorenzo de’ Medici to Portland last year, Nashville was looking to add another electric arm to the back of the bullpen to accommodate Martin Román and Juan Cerda, the latter coming over from a trade deadline deal with the Twin Cities River Monsters. With pockets full of money, Nason approached RHP Mitchell Purssell and the two walked away from the table with a 5 year $39M deal.

“Purssell will be the perfect addition to our bullpen,” said Nason. “We expect Mitchell to take the ball from our tired starters get out of tight jams before handing the ball to the Cerda and Roman to close out our games. It is very possible he will see some save opportunities, as well.”
With the bullpen seemingly tidied up, the club looked to plug another glaring hole – outfield. RF Pedro Mendoza and CF Niccolo Machiavelli look to see the majority of the time in the outfield, but with no prospects quite ready to play in the BBA, Nason looked to free agent, Bastião Fardos, who had previously spent his entire career in Hawaii. The leftfielder agreed to a 5 year $55M deal.

“I’m happy to stay in the superior Frick League,” said Fardos. “I know a lot of these pitchers and I can’t wait to go back to Hawaii and hit homers in my old stadium. I hope to deliver some of my postseason magic in Nashville, but Mr. Nason said the plan is to usually golf in October, so I’m glad my agent was able to negotiate a country club membership as part of my deal.”
Former Bluebird, Ernesto Sousa, and Edgardo Diaz were also both signed to short term deals and figure to platoon as the designated hitter.
