Bobby Beat 2001 v4: WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT

Post by jiminyhopkins » Fri Jul 08, 2011 9:05 pm

Washington, DC--

WTF???

Thats gotta be the reaction every time DC area fans open up the paper and find out that another one of their beloved Bobwhites is on the dreaded DL.

This past sim, THREE MORE PLAYERS were placed on the disabled list, bringing the current total to TEN MAJOR LEAGUE PLAYERS ON THE DL for Washington. :violin:

The worst loss is that of the club's best starting pitcher (and most likely to bring in talent via trade) Joshua Francis Kellogg, who is out 8-9 weeks with a strained hamstring. Kellogg had been getting better and better, having been 2-1 with a 1.52 ERA in his previous four starts. In addition, starting CF Daniel Fabiano joined the DL for his second time this season with a strained quad, while veteran infielder Verdo Incaviglia is out up to a week with a booboo on his elbow.

In a related story, Washington GM Sean V. Marko was overheard ranting, exasperated, that he may have missed a setting in the game and if anyone can find out what he's doing wrong to cause all these injuries, he'd love to hear about it.

In other news, Neil McKinney is awesome.

WOW! I was about to right a TN about how my team was a MASH unit this season. I currently have 4 or 5 Active guys on the DL and have had 3 of my big stars on the DL at least once this season. But after looking over you're DL list, I don't quite feel so bad.

2 seasons ago was like that for me. How high is your trainer rated?

My team trainer is Guy McDonald.

I guess the ratings could be better, but the real question I have is: Does the trainer have more to do with preventing injuries in the first place, or healing them once they occur? The ratings (Heal Arms, etc) would suggest the latter. I need to prevent the injuries form occuring in the first place. Is there a setting in the game that influences that kind of thing?

There's a setting set by the commissioner.
MBBA is set as "low".
Only things lower are "very low" and "off"
Other settings are Normal, High, and Very High.
High is considered (by OOTP) as realistic modern day.

In reading everything I could find on OOTPs site and forums, trainers have some impact on players getting injured in the first place (the largest factor the player's profile and the second largest factor is random luck influenced by league settings). But trainers have the largest impact on the time spent in recovery from a specific injury (a trainer with a Legendary "Heal Arms" is going to cut the healing time from a rotator cuff injury compared to someone on another team that suffers the same injury). Of course, their "Fatigue Recovery" rating simply shortens the rate at which players fatigue and their recovery. So it looks like your players will spend longer on the DL with arm or "other" injuries.

Exactly.

Your rash of injuries is mostly bad luck.
