Washington Watch 2014 Volume 7: August

Sept 1, 2014 - Well the Bobwhites played a little better in August going 13-15 for the month. The Bobwhite lineup leads the JL in batting AVG yet ranks only 6th in runs scored. They just aren't taking advantage of runners on but still, it's the pitching that is killing this team. The Bobwhites rank last or next to last in almost every stat in the JL when it comes to run prevention. Their rotation is dismal and their bullpen is a joke. They can't play defense and allow the most runs in the league by a substantial amount. Why people come out to watch this travesty of a team is beyond me.

Washington Pitcher of the Month: Chris Pump Jr

Pump Jr had a decent August going 3-2 with a 3.93 ERA. He whiffed 38 batters in 34.1 innings and only have up 1 home run. Not the Pump Jr from last year but still a solid month.

Bobwhite Bopper of the Month: Mike Love

Less than 2 months after being drafted 5th overall Mike Love makes his debut with the Bobwhites and has a great August batting .360 with a .435 OBP. He drove in 12 runs and touched the plate 18 times himself. He showed a nice eye at the plate only striking out 4 times in 75 at bats. Love looks to have a nice career ahead of him.
