GM Hopkins,"Attendance is up yet again, and the players are finally earning their paycheques. Even I find it a little hard to believe, that I turned around this franchise this fast. Give me a LOT of credit. I own this league."
Batter of the month
It's hard to argue with Devin Clark's 6 taters and 22 RBI in May, expecially when they're coupled with a .330 BAVG and a .560 SLG...so...we won't. Great job, Fungo!
Starter of the month
Old man Izzatt, just keeps rolling along. His ERA was kind of crap (5.06), but he lead the Sluggers with 3 wins and 36 K's. And his FIP (3.20) lead all starters.
Victor Paez has been impressive in his start to his MBBA career, with 6 quality starts out of 6, and a robust 1.97 ERA, but he just didn't get the luck needed to turn those excellent performances into wins.
Reliever of the month
Kevin Norman has earned three wins and four saves already in 2009, with a 4:1 K:BB ratio. He has been absolutley rejuvenated since being named the Slugger closer for 2009. While his two early blown saves aren't pretty, his 2.99 FIP is a passing grade for a Slugger!
Chris Allen is up to his old tricks in the Slugger bullpen. After being named the Slugger mopup guy, he's turned in 20 innings of 1.33 ERA with a 3:1 K:BB ratio. He's being left in the pen for now, but if Cleo Blanco and Abe Colbert don't get their shit together by the end of May, he may re-join the Louisville rotation.
Rookie of the month
Since the MBBA gave the league rookie of the month award to Sam Sung, we're gonna give the Slugger award to catcher Jorge Diaz. Jorge and Sam are neck and neck in a lot of categories, but Diaz slides ahead on the basis of .003 OPS points. The Glimmer twins are finding early goings very manageable in the MBBA.
