.400! No-one has done that since Ted Williams!
GM Hopkins is rumoured to have taken a child bride in Tahiti, and is seen very little around Locust Grove.
But the fans are still flocking to the locust Grove. There is something ‘car-crash like’ about the Sluggers in 2008; you just can’t tear your eyes away from them…although you know you’re gonna see something you wish you hadn’t.
Where else can you see the crowd pleasing ‘ground-out?’ The Sluggers strike out less than anyone in the JL…but have the lowest on base percentage. Pop-outs, broken bats, routine fly-balls…they’re all on display in Louisville.
Starter of the month

Bob Stenis gave it a good go…he went 0-3 with a 4.22 ERA. But, Mr. Allen Izzat walks away with the award again, with a stunning 3-2 record, en-route to compiling a 2.78 ERA over 35.2 innings across 5 starts. And an all-star appearance as the Sluggers lone JL representative.
Reliever of the month

Hector Molina again had a good month. He appeared in 10 contests and added 8.1 innings to the Sluggers cause. The right-hander limited opponents to a .167 BAVG enroute to a 1.08 ERA. He even won a game, and saved a game.
Batter of the month

Third base-man Devin Clark ‘won’ the award for July, with a mediocre .305/.336/.533/.870 hash-tag. Of course his 6 taters, 20 ribbies, and 16 runs were appreciated.
Rookie of the month

Ugghh….uber rookie sensation, Chris Thomas, fell off a cliff in July, with a .161/.243/.237/.479 tag-line. At least the youngster still stole five bases, (but was caught three times) and played a flawless left-field. GM Hopkins preached patience with Wyandotte Wheels, and was confident the kid would play himself out of his slump. Although, he did start resting him against left-handers.
