Gary Grant was an all-star in 2060. His future was seemingly bright. With Jose Barrera firmly taking over first base, Grant happily took over the DH role and embraced it. Given his poor defense, he definitely did not mind the switch. While overall his offensive numbers weren't as good as the year before, he did hit 32 homers and likely can be counted on for the same or more next season. But it looks like Grant's place on the team might be over.
Since Grant can only play first base, and not even well, he will never start ahead of Barrera. And with a glut of outfield prospects expected to start next season, it looks like one of those will be taking over the DH role. With this in mind, the team did float Grant on the trade block, but sadly there was no interest. What to do with him is almost a champagne problem given the problems the team has been having over the course of its rebuild, but he was an all-star in his third year and hit over 30 homers. Those players don't grow on trees.
"Whatever happens will happen. I don't care. But I would love to be DH for the rest of my career. Make money while not working hard. My kind of life," Grant recently noted to the press.

Gary Grant was always one of those fringy type players... worth the gamble on Baldez even if the "world traveler" didn't work out. Too bad we don't get takebacks.
