Slugger Shavings 2062.4 - Sluggers Bolster Bullpen Via Trade

In late August, the Sluggers made a move that flew under the radar. They traded slugging prospect left-fielder Badrak Owor for two relievers, Frank Geddes and Tanyu Ito. It was not a surprising move given the team was having difficulty on the mound. That is actually an understatement, as the team ended up finishing with a horrible collective ERA of 5.29.

"I think Badrak is going to be a hell of a hitter. But right now, I have young bats. What I don't have are young quality pitchers," explained GM BP.

It is true indeed that Owor was showing fine form at the plate. Originally drafted in the dying stages of the 2056 draft by Nashville and released a week later, he ended up moving to three different organizations before being traded by Twin Cities to Louisville for Joel Woodroffe and 3M in cash. Owor kept hitting better and better, but even after a brief taste of major league action last season where he did very well, there just wasn't room for him on the team. Rather than waste is his talent in AAA, a trade was made.

Fans already like what they saw of Geddes in the six games he played for the Sluggers with an ERA+ of 246. The former 2nd round draft pick is still young with less than three years of major league service. He should provide stability in the bullpen for what might be a contending team in 2-3 years. Ito is only 19 years old but has some promise. If he makes the team down the road, the team will consider it to be icing on the cake.
