Why write an article about one disappointing pitching prospect acquired in the Amphibian Johnson trade when you can do two such articles? Well, here you go. Seiichi Suzuki was not as heralded as Ethan Bricknell, but he was certainly no slouch. The former first-round pick of the Popes in 2055, he reached as high as the #18 prospect in the BBA in 2058. He seemed to be a very solid prospect. After arriving in Louisville, and unsuccessfully going through an off-season development program, he made his major league debut in 2061.
His rookie season was not that bad overall. He went 7-8 with a 4.59 ERA. What was disappointing, like with Bricknell, was the relatively quick realization that there is not much more to the guy. He is not going to be a game-changer, and is only a big part of the rotation because of the ineptitude of the Louisville's starting pitching. On top of that, he is fragile and is currently at the tail-end of a 5-week injury. The hope with Suzuki at this point is that he stays relatively healthy so he can eat some innings. Maybe another trip to the off-season development lab is in order.

Suzuki is a guy I agonize over. He could be a fine starer, but depending on how a conversion goes he could be a force in the pen.

He had a 3.99 FIP and 2.6 WAR in 133 innings as a 24 year-old. He always looked like more of a MOR starter and that's looking like what he is. He's still got some potential on his pitches. I'd be patient with him.

Even if Suzuki and Bricknell bust, which might not be the best word cause they aren't terrible, I still like the trade. Weatherford and Capeles have both bumped a bit and are tearing up AAA. They could both be stars. Meanwhile Amphibian lost a point of contact, power(not that it matters), eye, and is coming off the worst year of hs career.

I'd stick with him if you can.
