Slugger Shavings 2060.5 - Tim Redmon Getting Left

Post by RT60 » Thu Sep 05, 2024 10:01 pm

Former first-round pick (21st overall in 2054) Tim Redmon has quietly been having a good rookie season with the Sluggers. After slogging his way through the Louisville farm system, the former top prospect (as high as #33 in 2055) has finally made it. Sort of.

"People told me I wouldn't be drafted in the first round. It really hurt. They said I was a one-trick pony. I don't get it. I have all the tools to succeed at this level. So what if I make lefties look foolish."

What Tim left out is that only lefties look foolish while righties look like geniuses when facing him. His stuff against lefties is off the charts good, and back on draft day scouts were even more bullish on that rating. But it is the opposite against righties. That didn't deter Louisville from choosing to invest a first-round pick on Redmon. Was that a wise choice?

Redmon has so far been kept protected as a specialist in the bullpen against lefties. He has rewarded the team with the lowest ERA, WHIP, and K/9 of any pitcher on the Sluggers. But given the poor performances across the entire starting rotation, and the lack of any risk to the team given its overall woeful state, Redmon has just been given a promotion to #5 starter. No more hiding.

"I honestly can't believe it. I was pitching so well out of the bullpen that I thought maybe I was stuck there forever. I can't wait to start my first game. I just hope they all hit left-handed!"

Sometimes I think there should be more players in the BBA that have severe platoon splits, both pitching and hitting. It seems like there are a lot of those in real life.
