Brooklyn State of Mind: Lara's Hot Start (2061.4)

For the Robins, while the pitching staff and defense were a focus, the Robins made the decision to make a change in the outfield. Pablo Lara was brought in on a 1 year deal for just over 2 million bucks. The veteran has been no stranger to the Atlantic thanks to his previous time spent with Jacksonville and Rockville. The thought was that Lara could come in and provide some veteran leadership.

"When Brooklyn's front office made me an offer, I decided to take it. They have clearly been active, and I feel like I can still contribute. In this lineup, I am not expected to be the guy, and that suits me at this stage. The Atlantic is going to be a tough outfit, but our revamped pitching staff has shown some improvement, and our two new guys at the top give us a good chance to win most nights. I'm glad to see that I have been hitting well." Lara said this as the Robins prepared to face off against Montreal to start a series in late April. He has been right, as he has hit 7 home runs and has provided protection to the middle of the order. All in all, while Lara's free agency decision wasn't the most newsworthy, if he can help the Robins get where they want to get, then it might prove to be a move that makes sense in terms of value.
