Brooklyn State of Mind: Robins Hang In There After Dreadful June (2060.9)

Nobody is expecting that the Robins are going to pull off a miracle playoff run this year. Winning 8 games in June will do that to any team, and expecting half of the Johnson League to get their talent sucked out them Space Jam style would be a tough ask. But there have been signs that 2059 could be the rock bottom on this team's journey.

The defensive woes and bullpen issues will need to be identified, and steps are being taken to see what the solution is going to be. That being said, the Robins are in the lose close stage of Bobby Bowden's keys to building a winning team. We have played 39 games decided by 1 run, which is the most in the BBA this year. Winning 16 of them is a start, but better defense and some improved pitching is going to be needed down the stretch and into 2061 to take the step into the win close stage.

That being said, the Robins are getting a big boost with both Cookie Monster and Nothard ready to return after a spell on the shelf due to injuries. If you remember, the Robins had some success in the early part of the year with Nothard being a key part of the back end of the bullpen. His return should provide the team with more options in the late innings. As for Cookie Monster, his injury in early June caused the offense to sputter a bit as he had adjusted to being a top of the order run producer and ability to provide Cano and Morales Jr. with players to drive in and less likely to get pitched around.

As for the overall record, it;s been good to see that the Robins are only a handful of wins away from matching last year's record. If the Robins can get somewhere around 60 wins or perhaps a couple more, then you would have to say that this season is going to be a success.

You swept me earlier this year which is just as much a sign of our failures as your success.
