For the second year in a row, the Robins saw a player hit a milestone home run in their colors. While Pedro Guzman hitting his 600th home run isn't going to give the team 20 more wins, it was a good thing to see. Guzman wasn't sure that any team would be willing to take a chance on him this year, but when the Robins called, he was able to get to 600 home runs.
At a pregame ceremony before the Robins game against Charm City in Brooklyn, the Robins presented Guzman with a key to the city, a video tribute, and his 600th home run ball that Guzman intends to donate to the Baseball Hall of Fame. In a speech, the outfielder was humbled. "I had thought that I would spend the year outside of the BBA, so when the Robins organization called me up it was an easy decision. All of the Robins fans who have stuck it out this year deserve a big round of applause. Getting to 600 was something that I couldn't have imagined when I started out my BBA career in the 2038 draft. Believe me when I say this, that the Robins are going to improve next year with a couple of reinforcements coming up through the draft." Pedro may be right. The Robins are going to improve their record this year, and with the balance sheet looking a lot better, there are going to be resources that the Robins can use to get the talent to take them back to where they belong.
