Red Robins Bobbing 2024-10 (three games under .500)

May 20th

After a terrible 1-9 start to May the Robins bounced back to take six of the next eight games but has the damage already been done as they sit third in the JLA and one game out of the wildcard slot as well? It was a good road trip that brought about the upswing as Brooklyn swept Vancouver, including their third shutout of the season, before going on to take two out of three in Yellow Springs.

Joey Budding finally got his second win of 2024 pitching into the ninth at Vancouver giving up just four hits and no runs but Fernando Moran appears to be regressing to the norm as his last two starts saw him give up six runs in his shortest outing of 2024, just 4.1 innings in Hawaii, followed by another five in Yellow Springs although only three were earned. Mario Mendez pitched eight strong innings in his outings in Vancouver & Yellow Springs and picked up two more wins to take his tally to five in nine starts. Jose Castro picked up four straight saves and despite his 7.56 ERA has only blown one of his 13 save opportunities while Len Caldwell settled down a bit, pitching three innings over two outings giving up four hits but more importantly no runs. Jose Garcia picked up his first win in the rotation while Moran and Salavador Barron both reached the 50 K mark in eight starts.

Benjamin O'Rorke's bat finally woke up as he hit three homers and .308 while Bob Brandon hit ,400 for the period and is now batting .356/.382/.466 since he came off the DL. Jose Escarceja launched three homers to take his tally to a team leading 11 and Brian Whitten drove in nine runs taking his tally to 36 leading Brooklyn in RBI and just behind Escarceja with nine homers.
