Brooklyn State of Mind: Robins Draft 3rd Ace (2061.5)
Going into the 2061 BBA draft, the Robins brass knew that they would get a chance at a very elite player. The choice for them was to go for one of the best position players, or take the best pitcher on the board. To nobody's surprise, the Robins opted to pick up Larry Jensen with the second pick. Jensen arrives to the Robins with a very impressive body of work in college, and was judged by Baseball America as a player who comes with a very high floor already. It is expected that he is going to make his BBA debut either later this year or in 2062.
Robins Chief Baseball Officer Ben Heuring was clearly excited at the press conference announcing Jensen agreeing to his slot bonus. "Larry was an easy pick once Louisville made their selection. The plan is to start Larry in the minors for a little bit to get him used to professional hitting, with an eye towards late 2061 or 2062 depending on how he does. Our starting rotation already looks a lot better so far, and adding Larry excites me as both an executive and as a baseball fan."
Jensen made a guest appearance in both the Robin television and radio booths during the broadcast of the series opener against Calgary. "I've obviously been keeping a close eye on the teams at the top during this process, and getting to Brooklyn is going to be exciting. They have really improved over the last year. I'm thankful to both the Robins ownership group and the front office for bringing me here. I am confident that I can live up to everybody's expectations, and the work starts now."

If Jensen can cut it in the BBA this year, that rotation looks a lot stronger.

I’m starting him off in A ball, and am going to see how he goes before deciding to move him up to AA/AAA.

That's probably as wise as anything. I might see him in AA, but no reason to rush...unless there's a reason to rush.
