Brooklyn State of Mind: 2060 Is A Big Step In The Right Direction (2060.14)

As the Robins get to work on 2061 and take a look at the BBA playoffs, they have a lot to look back on. With a 74 win season, the Robins concluded their best record since 2057. Combined with finishing above both the OOTP generated preview and the BBA Media Guide preview, there is a lot of belief that the Robins are able to take the next step toward returning to a team that can be a winning organization. But this team is going to need to build on some issues. The defense needs to improve from a horrific showing, and the pitching staff can also benefit from getting a couple of upgrades in both the rotation and the front end of the bullpen to better ensure that the offense doesn't have to win a bunch of slugfests all of the time.

What is going to complicate things for the Robins is that the BBA new financial rules are going to help them out, but nobody knows for sure what that means. They will have room to improve the team even if they bring everyone back and add some guys even if they want to be cap compliant for the 2062 season. Sources indicate that the team is expecting the player option for Custello to be picked up given that he won't get 11 million dollars on the free agent market. The good news is that even if Custello picks up his player option for both the next two years, the Robins will be in good shape to get Prieto and Miranda for their big boy deals.

All in all, despite the controversy about the Cano trade, the injury to Cookie Monster, the June swoon, and hanging in the race until late summer, the Robins can look back on 2060 as a season that could be a key step forward.

Yep. I got some things to shore up on, and have already started planning out the offseason.
