Favourite Player.

Post by Clayman » Thu Mar 12, 2020 6:06 pm

Who is your favourite player? If your talking baseball history then mine would be Shoeless Joe, Ty Cobb, Josh Gibson, Honus Wagner and any Brooklyn Dodgers from the 50s.

If your talking since I started following baseball in 86 this is my favourite player timeline.

1986-96 Lenny Dykstra
1997-2004 Rey Ordonez
2005-2006 Mike Matheny
2007 N/A
2008-Present Joey Votto

Never really followed anyone player in 07, also I know Votto played in 07 but wasnt till the following year I noticed him. So who's your favourite player/players?

I was going to use the first month of the season to pick out a Detroit Tigers player but that will have to wait.

My all time favorite player is C Johnny Bench.

I played catcher as a kid and tried to be like him.

I consider him the greatest catcher of all time.

I'd say my favorite growing up was Mark McGwire. Grew up a fan of the A's for some unknown reason. Kinda strange living in Indiana and being a A's fan. Lol.

As I got older it switched to Ken Griffey Jr, especially during his stint with the Reds.

A few others from around same time was Eric Chavez & Barry Larkin.

I know Joe mentioned pitchers but not many really mention pitchers as their favourite pitchers, I've never really looked at pitchers as my favourite players. Reason being up until recently (MLBtv) we only got the Sunday & Wednesday night games then a few per week so you may only get to see a certain pitcher say twice a season.

All-time: Ernie Banks. I loved him as a little kid, and got to interview him at Wrigley Field in college. Met him again as an adult, and he was just a complete gentleman.

Now: Javier Baez. An amazing talent and crazy fun to watch.
