No idea if this is the right pick, but it looks like the Kernels will welcome slugger OF Rudy Pemberton into the fold.

He was a brilliant minor leaguer and tore up the Mexican League into his mid-30s.

I am really concerned that it is going to only add severely to our monstrous talent glut, and much like the SAML in the ORB2, become close to, if not as important as the draft itself. But, I will try to hold off on my pessimism until after the first batch is created.

Yes, but you probably want to make it either somebody you just love and want in your franchise or somebody who put up good numbers in the minors and/or majors who just didn't stick in the big leagues for some reason. And they have to fit the big league playing time criteria.

Pemberton is a great pick and exactly the kind of player this system was created for. Only reason I can see that he didn't stick was his defensive deficiencies. No idea why he didn't catch on as a DH. Same reason as Roberto Petagine maybe. Perhaps he just decided he loved playing in Mexico.

And I love this program. Makes this league the best of both worlds. Fictional and historical.

By the way, the success of this program has everything to do with creating well. If you will notice, the ORB2 SaLMers of the last couple of years have been good prospects but haven't exactly taken the league by storm.

Oh, and perhaps the most important element of this program as well as all of the others Recte manages to push through in spite of the moaning and groaning that goes on is that it is FUN. That is an often overlooked element to our fictional baseball leagues.

After Pemberton, I didn't see much. There were two other names I was considering because they were superior defenders, but Pemberton's potential bat was the selling point.
