Montreal Accepts.

Think I have it set up with roster space to do the following:
Raider and Bell to 40 man.
Raider (BBA Montreal)
Fabre is still DL
Tomi (AAA New Jersey)
Bell (AAA New Jersey)
Moreno (AA Mississauga)

wow, big deal and i think a big win for Edmonton. They got both the best player AND the best prospect in the deal. Montreal clearly shoving their chips in for the short term though.

Really? I thought I actually got back too much. My big give up is Scheffer who's been injured most of this season...by running the bases. And has missed a total of almost 2 months of this season. Lopez has pitched a total 30.0 innings past two seasons with season ending injuries. Yeah I gave up a big prospect in Karetu but you know how prospects are. In turn got a 1B i need, a solid dependable catcher, borderline pitching help and a guy I'm hoping will become the everyday CF in Montreal in the future.

Yeah I look at this as a team with an eye towards the playoffs wanting to buy their way further into the postseason by dealing a prospect they won’t need, a pitcher they won’t have next season and a catcher that’s been giving them problems with injuries. They give up very little that get them to the postseason for what they believe will provide them with a bigger return this season. I think it’s a good deal for Montreal. Scheffer just hasn’t been able to play many games. They get one of the league’s most durable catchers in return with Fabre even if he’s injured right now for the first time in 10 years.

If Tomi winds up better than Lopez its not a complete steal, but this is a pretty bad deal for Montreal in my view.

I like it for Montreal. Mons just flat out gets on base and scores runs. The pitchers mean nothing to me. And the 2b prospect is two years out but not a stud by any means with his low eye. I think it’s fine in both sides, but I value Mons highly.

BOLDING SO RECTE SEES MY SIM INSTRUCTIONS :)

Everyone has been DFA'd except Fabre who is on the DL. Please put Lopez on the 60 day DL.

There is a spot open on the active roster and the 40 man for Scheffer. Slot him in at DH in both lineups, #7 vs RHP and #5 vs LHP.

Place Karetu in Charlesbourg Single A and auto the lineups.

By the end of the season, you will regret this so bad you might actually quit like the Madison guy before Mike did. That's how bad this is. How on earth do you value that CF at all? He cannot hit BBA pitching, hell he can't even hit minor league pitching...

Are you okay dude? This isn't that far off. Scheffer is probably going to be wrecked for his injury status, Lopez is injured until the end of the year and already started lumping, and a Karetu is an underpowered first baseman or a terrible fielding second baseman. I'm starting to believe these reactions are more based on being a rival than a sound opinion on the deal in front of you. What I do benefit from the deal is dumping salary, but I'm trading a far more durable catcher, a HOFer in Raider who is only 31 who is going to produce better than his batting line right now and some decent prospects.

The ceiling on this deal for Edmonton is better because if Scheffer never gets injured again and Lopez is resigned and is lights out like he was in 2040 than this deal is amazing for Edmonton. However, those two alone are HUGE question marks regardless of Scheffer's age. I would always take a more durable catcher than a wrecked injury status one with a 3 rating. The floor on this deal is way better for Montreal. Fabre currently has his only injury in more than a decade. Raider is going to explode the second half of this season and would really help their OBP which is 13th in the JL. Him and Antolin combined with Aldo knocking them in is going to be nuts. Scheffer was reverted to a platoon status because Jeffrey was concerned about his health. Also, Bell the centerfielder, is outstanding defensively and is a great option off the bench for Montreal if Mouriz ever gets hurt. Montreal also mitigates the concern about a short ceiling on Fabre/Raider by procuring a couple depth prospects.

I honestly was going to ignore this though, but the "so bad you might actually quit like the Madison guy before Mike did" is nasty. I believe it is to suggest that my trade is what led Will to quit. These kind of statements do way more harm than good. I think more often than not these reactions are what lead GMs to quit after a trade. Jeffrey and I felt good about this trade and I hope he still feels good about it because I think it puts Montreal in a better position in the playoffs this year which is what this deal is predicated on.

Well, Lopez--with his second Tommy John in two years--is probably done, and worst case is that Tomi looks like a pretty good reliever conversion (best case is...um...better), so I'd take Montreal's side of that part of the deal every day. But the future is always uncertain. Maybe I'd be wrong. :)

I have no idea what Jeffrey is planning, but I'd start Bell over what Montreal is starting right now against LHP. You're right he won't hit, but what they are starting right now doesn't hit either...and Bell can at least play ZImmer quality CF. I'd also use him as a 2-inning defensive replacement in the majors. I'm always fine with the idea someone could have gotten more, but it's arguable that Bell represents an upgrade over anything else the Blazers had in their organization. Shrug.

Fabre is meh and not playing until late August. Not sure how that helps.

Edmonton got the best player, best prospect, and out of a contract extension that (I think) scares the shit out of him at this point.
