Three Strikes Poll! (BBA Today Ep. 10)

Post by RonCo » Thu Apr 16, 2020 1:25 pm

To vote here, you really should go back and listen to the BBA Today (episode 10) where Justing and I give hot takes on the other's strikes. This is where you get to vote on which are the best questions, conversations, takes ... or whatever. In other words, vote however you wanna vote, eh?

LOVED the episode and concept and the poll is fantastic. Sorry though, Ron...Justin's hot takes, when thrown for strikes, are untouchable.

I loved the concept too, and maybe it is because of how my brain processes things. I like the subjects divided up into chapters. It was obvious you guys prepared and did your homework. It sounded really professsional. Great job, guys.

I admit, being a newbie, my frame of reference for players like Mark Simpson is lacking. And I'm always interested in how and/or when teams decide to tear things down or not. And considering Andrade, I have a lot to learn regarding the different awards (Sawyer Silk, Puckett, Nebraska, etc.)!

Quick primer:

Silk = Best Position Player
Nebraska = Cy Young
Puckett = Silver Slugger
Egan = Best Reliever (NOT GUY WITH THE MOST SAVES /commmentary)
Gillstrom = Rookie of the Year
Zimmer = Gold Glove

I recommending looking at the careers/stats of the players for which the award is named after to get an understanding of their historical importance. Wilson's Pantheon series in the last three or four (?) media guides is also good reading for the legends of the game.

Yeah...just happens that the guy with the most saves was the best reliever last year...even though I didn't actually vote for him.

I think there's been some ballot box stuffing noticed from the area around Chicago. We need to look into that before declaring a victor.
