Feeling Felix

With the London Monarchs’ hope hanging squarely on their youth, it seems only right to begin the off-season with a spotlight on their top prospect (and the #3 prospect in the GBC) Felix Vallés.

Originally drafted first overall in the 2060 amateur draft by the Sydney Sharks, Valles elected to stay in college for one more year. He was then selected third overall by the London Monarch’s in last year’s amateur draft.

Since then, the bats in the A league have posed as much of an issue for this pitcher as their college counterparts had before them. Boasting an impressive six-pitch arsenal with devastating stuff, he posted 90 strikeouts in 84 innings, a microscopic 2.00 FIP, and 2.5 WAR. This included a particularly blistering September and August, across which he spun a 2.25 ERA with a sub 1 WHIP.

With this performance, he earned himself a call up to AA at the beginning of the off season. The team expects that he will have the same success there that he has had against all those hitters who heretofore have plodded underneath his glare into the box.

If he does, then a mid-season call up to AAA is not out of the question. With a little good fortune, fans may be able to see him don the Monarch’s purple come early in 2063. Surely then he will begin his revenge campaign against the Fighting Centaurs, who so publicly slighted him when they elected to select Jason Caldwell first overall. Be prepared.
