I think this is odd and overly simplistic way to look at this. OOTP is notoriously bad at assigning appropriate overall ratings, and I feel like it's even worse in 25
That's true. But even if you say the ratings are proper, to me the real issue is that this kind of deal is damned hard to score.

Bob's not wrong in the idea that a player like Bayou is going to swing the gravity of any deal--especially in the short term. This is a huge upside deal for SAC. Tat said, as I get into it in the podcast a bit, the problem is that I'm not sure you can ever really get full "value" for a superstar. So the question I come to is more about whether Boise could have gotten more in this environment, and/or should he have gotten more.

Ultimately, it may be fair to say that when you deal a Superstar you're almost always going to "lose" (if there must be a winner/loser). And yet sometimes a superstar needs to be dealt. The more I look at Boise, the more I think Bayou did have to go now.

I completely agree. That is why I spent the time to break down the individual players. IMHO, Bayou is a true 80, but the other position players are overrated. I was just using the overly simplistic algebraic approach to drive home my point that I value quality over quantity if the players involved are otherwise similar.

Great imaginative trade, and yes ... will be fun to revisit next season.

I am curious. Does anyone know the highest number of players involved in a trade?

This might be difficult to find since, correct me if I'm wrong, prior to v25, you could only have five players on one side of a trade. The game now allows ten on each side (ask me how I know).

I do believe Ron offered his entire minor leagues for Dennis French back in the early 40s. It was not accepted.

Oh, and don't think Ben and I didn't gleefully talk about how wild a 15 player trade was.

I don’t know if you can judge the trade until you see what Boise does with the monetary and cap savings short and long term

Bayou is signed through 64 with 11, 13, 13 in cap space. Geauxinue Is signed this season and next. Boise could add some nice talent with the cap savings in 63 and 64. Plus if they go into a deep rebuild the extra financial space could be huge for IFA or unsigned picks.

it's certainly possible likely that sacramento moves Johnson or Bayou sometime soon, they will combine for ~24 million annually for the next three seasons, a not insignificant percentage of the 110 cap.

I'd gladly pay the two players a combined $~24m annually for the next three seasons. I have plenty of cap space and don't see a big FA add anytime soon with my current makeup. I have a lot of cheap, young players for the next couple seasons. Come 2064, I'm going to be in trouble depending on how PO and arb figures go, but there's nothing I love better than taking a big kick to the proverbial can.
