Charlotte Files Civil Suit Against Walkoff Watch

An ever escalating tiff between The Walkoff Watch and the Charlotte Flyers exploded into the public arena before the start of the 2063 season Despite the efforts of league management, and the urging of caution from wary GMs, Charlotte Flyers GM Nathan Garrison announced today that the Flyers are taking legal action against The Watch for defamation regarding the use of the team designation of Charlotte. Charlotte insists the short form is, and always has been, "CHA" while The Watch insists on using the official airport code for the Charlotte Douglas International Airport which is "CLT"

As part of the announcement, Garrison said, "I am obviously limited legally by how much I say, but things didn't have to come to this point." A source familiar with both parties said that while the Flyers have been unyielding on the subject, The Watch has frequently stepped just over the line with seeming glee enjoying small jabs at Flyers fans and management. At one point, against according to the source, The Watch suggested Flyers management relax during flareups by moving their tongues in the shape of the letters of the alphabet on the roof of their mouth.

The Watch legal team announced its openness to settlement discussion granted that Flyers' management can display the ability to clearly identify the subject at the root of the disagreement. Discussions to this point, however, have been more detrimental than positive with members of The Watch attending negotiations wearing hoodies.
